Escalation Sensation

I'm doing a little escalation league with some friends at the moment. Mostly to get me to paint my Warriors of Chaos who have been in a box for several months after the initial excitement of doing a new army wore off.

Starting off at 500 points People need to get stuff painted. So after changing my list about a dozen times I painted some war puppies. You can see them here being all war and puppy like. I probably spent too much time on them seeing as it will be an amazing miracle if they are ever on the table for more than 3 player turns. Next up to paint is more dogs and around a dozen chaos warriors. I am cheating a little and using my sorcerer lord as my hero at the moment.

Tzeentch Sorcerer Lord

Finally managed to finish painting something. Here is my Tzeentch Sorcerer Lord. Some people say don't paint the characters first, to them I say pssh!

Warriors, turns out they can kill stuff.

Realised I should probably say how my first outing with Warriors went. It went well. I played two games both of which I won pretty convincingly. Both games my marauder unit was decimated by ogre shooting so I didn't really get to test out anything but their ward saves with them. But my warriors and my knights both performed well. Halberds make them brutal, while the other unit with hand weapon and shield could take a lot of punishment with their 3+ save and 5+ parry with the mark of tzeentch. The warhounds were good getting in the way and even running off a scrap launcher. I am quite liking having a very different army to my Skaven. Once I get this castle commission out of the way I will begin painting them in earnest.

First game with Warriors

Tomorrow is the day I take my warriors out for a test drive. Playing Justin's Ogres, so hopefully I will out number him. Looking forward to trying out the Tzeentch spells and the infernal puppet, if only to mitigate my own miscasts, and winning combat via wounds rather than static combat res.. Spare Change for the Change God!!!

So I finished my colour scheme test Chaos Warrior today. Here he is all Tzeentchy n stuff. Started with a regal blue basecoat for the armour then washed it with badab black. then worked up the highlights with glazes of regal blue and hideous blue up to the extreme highlight. For the metal I used gryphonne sepia over chainmail then highlighed it again with mithril or maybe chainmail who can remember these things.

So now  I have filled my need to start painting my warriors, I can get back to finishing my clanrats,got 8 on the go with a bit of paint on em as we speak.

Beginnings of an Army

So I watched some friends play Warhammer today, Bretts vs Woodies. It was an interesting game between to two oldest army books, eventually the Wood Elves came away with quite a large victory. The game was part of a campaign we are running down here at the moment so the Wood Elves will have quite a few empire points to play with next round. In other news I got 20 marauders off ebay to swell the ranks of my fledgling Warriors of Chaos Army. So now the army stands comprises 1 chaos sorcerer, 12 warriors with halberds, 12 warriors with hand weapons, 5 knights, 36 marauders, and 2 spawns. Here is a photo of everyone I have at the moment, the others being in various places on their way to me.

The guys pictured above were stripped of their terrible old paint with some Dettol, that stuff is amazing for stripping mini's. For the army I'm going to go a Tzeentch theme, as I like Magic, Ward Saves and blue paint.
I probably won't start painting them for awhile as I have 15 clanrats I want to paint before I start painting my warriors, also I cut myself quite badly assembling Ogres for a friend and have 10 stitches so I can't hold things for very long. Always cut away from yourself and pay attention.
